Like so many of our favorite brands, Attractions was born from an appreciation of vintage clothing. Originally founded in 2006, Attractions began as a vintage reseller, importing pieces from the United States and UK before starting their own production in 2011. Their experience in the vintage world provided them with the knowledge and inspiration necessary to develop their own styles, growing into an impressive and unique brand in a market saturated with alternatives.
Based on the oft-reproduced USN officer shoes of the 1940s, Attractions' Service Shoes do everything right. Built on a reproduced vintage last, they've got an extremely handsome profile, with a silhouette that can be dressed up or down easily. The classic blutcher details are all there as well, from the t-shaped backstay to the wheeled welt and blind eyelets - everything has been elevated, from the leather selection to the craftsmanship.
These are made from Bourbon Shell Cordovan, an extremely handsome and highly sought after horsehide leather with beautiful tonal variety, an attractive shine, and a unique patina. Shell cordovan is cut from a very specific membrane of the horsebutt, before being subjected to specialized tanning and finishing procedures. The unique grain texture of this shell-shaped wedge of the hide (hence the name "shell") produces spectacular leather goods, as the leather forms gentle sloping rolls over time as opposed to the tight creases of cowhide.
They stand on a thick, oak bark tanned leather outsole and Biltrite Nylon heel, a classic and low-profile combo that will break in quickly & easily with wear. The uppers all feature extremely high SPI double-needle stitching, requiring precise and talented operators behind the sewing machine to achieve. Finally, thanks to their 270 degree goodyear flat welt, these can be rebuilt by any trusted cobbler when the soles wear down.
